Audiologist / Principal
Dr. Norma P. Camacho is a renowned audiologist with over 20 years of experience, currently serving as the Principal Audiologist at Doctors of Hearing, Inc. Inspired by her family’s experiences with hearing loss, she pursued audiology and earned her Doctorate in Audiology with honors from Salus University in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. She also holds a Master of Science in Communicative Disorders with honors in hearing aids and technology from California State University, Northridge, and a B.A. in Sociology from California State University, Los Angeles—equipping her with a deep understanding of how cultural and social factors influence patient care.
Dr. Camacho trained at the Veterans Administration Hospital, gaining experience in post-traumatic stress disorder and drug and alcohol abuse clinics. During this time, she became proficient with all six leading hearing aid brands. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she has earned numerous certifications, including clinical competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, certification from the American Board of Audiology. She is a member of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology, California Academy of Audiology, and American Academy of Audiology. She is licensed in California to practice audiology and to dispense hearing aids.
Her dedication to advocacy and community service has been widely recognized. In 2019, she was named Woman of the Year by Congresswoman Judy Chu for her work supporting underserved populations, including veterans, musicians, low-income communities, and college students who cannot afford hearing aids. Dr. Camacho provides counseling, mental health resources in audiology, and emotional support alongside audiological care. She has also been recognized by the Mayor of Pasadena for her community contributions.
Dr. Camacho’s advocacy extends to policy. She coordinated congressional efforts that led to the declaration of May as Better Hearing Month and has met with lawmakers in Washington, D.C., and California to support legislation for Medicare patients and children with hearing loss. Contributed to the passage of California’s AB 598, the Pediatric Hearing Aid Bill, expanding access to hearing aids for all children in the state.
Passionate about education, Dr. Camacho is developing Spanish-language resources—including videos and radio interviews—to provide the Spanish-speaking community with accurate information on audiology and hearing aids.
In 2011, recognizing the need for an ethical, patient-centered practing best practices hearing care provider, Dr. Camacho founded Doctors of Hearing, Inc. and soon after the Love2Hear Foundation. Her practice and foundation prioritize compassion, expert knowledge, and the highest standards of care, serving patients with hearing loss, balance disorders, and tinnitus across California.
